Well. eventful day at the carter house.
when i got home from work i took the kids outside to play in the backyard. liza started throwing a fit about wanting to go over to our neighbor's house to play. she started hitting me so i told her to march inside and go to time out.
mccoy was playing in a huge mud puddle and was filthy so i stayed in the back to watch him outside. a few minutes had passed and i thought that it was funny that liza hadn't tried to come out of time out. but figured she was playing on the computer upstairs. (and the back door was wide open)
as i was trying to get mccoy convinced to come inside (covered in mud, nonetheless) i was walking in the house just as our neighbor (down the street neighbor) , paige arnold,  coming in the front door with liza.
my stomach dropped.
paige said that a yard guy working next door to her had rung her doorbell with liza.
i could not believe it.
liza had unlocked our front door  and had gone all the way down the street and across the street.
of course i started bawling crying and liza was crying.
liza was scared she was going to get into big trouble and it totally freaked her out that i was so sad.
i couldn't stop crying when i was telling her about how dangerous that was.
she kept begging that she wanted everything back to normal.
at this point i had gotten mccoy in the bath tub since he was covered in mud and liza in my lap and she decided she wanted to get in a bubble bath. i told her no cause we had to get to dance and she then started crying that mccoy got everything and she never got anything!
after we had some BIG talks and jason got home
i called paige and she said that when the guy rung her doorbell with liza she immediately said oh liza we have to hurry and get home your mom is going to be so worried. and liza was very upset and said she didn't want to get into trouble because she was supposed to be in time out and her mom was going to be really mad. paige told her that i was going to be so worried and sad if i was looking for her.
and liza said, well, my mom gets really mad a LOT! (haha)

what. a. day.
i am so grateful for so many things today.
that paige happened to be home, that there was someone outside to help and take her to the right place, and that a teenager wasn't driving fast around the corner as she crossed the street.
and that she hopefully knows to never do that again!
whew!

Me to Jared: OMG.. Liza escaped and walked down the street and crossed the street today by herself!
Jared: She crossed CROSSOVER?!

Guess it couldve been worse...
Hang in there friend, glad everything is A-OK!

I had the same thing happen to me with Spencer last fall! I still get sick thinking about it. Be so glad you have great neighbors.
